Cakemuir is the most charming five-bedroom detached family home situated in the small village of Nenthorn, only four miles from the popular Borders town of Kelso.
Formerly a manse, and dating from the mid-1800’s, but with later additions, the property sits in just over 7 acres. Benefitting from a large garden, outbuildings, and a five and a half acre paddock with barn, it is the perfect small holding, or equestrian facility.
With flexible, spacious living throughout, plus lovely views, there are an abundance of period features, and the outbuildings also offer excellent potential as annexed accommodation, subject to the necessary permissions.
Internally, the house comprises five double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a shower room, a sitting room, a dining room, a family room, a dining kitchen, a study/cloakroom with wc, and a rear hall/utility area. There is excellent natural light throughout, and ample storage, a particular feature.
Externally, the property has a gated entrance to the front with gravel sweep, a terraced patio area, and extensive lawn. To the rear is a secondary access leading to the outbuildings comprising of a double garage, an office, two store rooms and a first floor playroom/studio.
The garden ground extends to around one acre and is mainly laid to lawn with attractive borders, hedging and mature trees. The five and a half acre paddock to the west is a particular feature and benefits from a large barn measuring approximately 20m x 10m. An orchard sits to the north with additional areas used for chickens and wildfowl.
Most Border towns are readily accessible from this location, as is the East Coast mainline railway station at Berwick-upon-Tweed which is only half an hour from Kelso, or the new Borders Railway at Tweedbank which runs into Edinburgh.
Kelso 4 miles. Edinburgh 40 miles. Berwick upon Tweed 28 miles. St. Boswells 8.5 miles. Tweedbank 14 miles.
